I recently had the absolute honor of photographing a beautiful high school senior in one of Tucson’s most stunning natural landscapes: Sabino Canyon. What made this session even more special? I’ve known this incredible young woman since she was knee-high! We first met when I was teaching at her elementary school, and now here she is—smart, graceful, full of dreams, and ready to take on the world.
A Hike to Remember
To make her senior portraits as unforgettable as she is, we ventured off the beaten path (literally!). We hiked into a gorgeous, tucked-away spot deep in Sabino Canyon, surrounded by massive cliffs, textured rock formations, and the warm golden light that only Arizona can deliver. The geological backdrops gave the images a dreamy, timeless quality — every frame felt like it belonged in a magazine.
Yes, we broke a sweat getting there, but WOW — totally worth it.
Family Ties That Made It Even Sweeter
What made this session especially fun was the sweet mini-reunion we had during it. Her older sister (whom I also had the joy of photographing for her senior portraits a couple years ago) joined us for a few shots, along with their amazing mom, who works in the astronomy department at the University of Arizona. Talk about a powerhouse family!
There were laughs, hugs, and so many candid moments that will live in frames and albums for years to come.
