A Tucson Family Morning Out: Year in the Life Session at Mercado San Agustín
There’s something so refreshing about photographing families while they do the things they’d normally do together. For this family’s Year in the Life series, we started at home with good morning snuggles before heading out the door for one of their favorite weekend traditions: a trip to the Mercado San Agustín.
We grabbed donuts from La Estrella Bakery, coffee from Presta, and smoothies from El Zumitos. It felt so true to them — fun, easy, and completely natural. My favorite part? When their little girl shared the tiniest crumb of her donut with her mom after being asked for a bite. That tiny moment said so much about her personality — and it’s the kind of memory photos like these preserve forever.
What I love most about these sessions is how much we can capture in such a short amount of time. From waking up at home to coming back with full bellies, every moment added another layer to their story. And the best part? It was stress-free. No posing, no pressure, no “everyone look at the camera and smile.” Just real life, documented beautifully.
If you’ve ever thought about family photos but felt overwhelmed by the idea of perfect outfits, perfect weather, or perfect behavior, Year in the Life sessions might be exactly what you need. They’re about embracing the everyday and letting me do the work of noticing and capturing the magic in it.
